This 8-day, 7-night adventure is built for travellers who want to see Sri Lanka’s wild side without missing its icons. It opens in the Cultural Triangle with a sunset hike up Pidurangala Rock and a morning climb of Sigiriya, then a day in village life with a traditional boat ride. Kandy, the waterfalls and tea estates of the hill country and the famous Nanu Oya to Ella train lead you south to Yala National Park, home to one of the highest densities of leopards on Earth.
From the jungle you drop to the coast at Mirissa, where — from November to April — boats head out at dawn in search of blue whales, sperm whales and spinner dolphins. A final afternoon in Galle Fort and a night in Colombo round off the journey.

Our representative welcomes you at Bandaranaike International Airport and your chauffeur guide drives you to Sigiriya. After checking in and relaxing, hike up Pidurangala Rock for a sunset view across the jungle to the Lion Rock. An optional Ayurveda spa treatment can round off the day before dinner at your hotel.
After breakfast, climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress to the ruins of its 5th-century sky palace. In the afternoon, step into rural life on a Sigiriya village tour — a traditional boat ride across the lake, a walk through paddy fields and a taste of home-cooked Sri Lankan food — before returning to your hotel to relax.
Visit the golden cave temples of Dambulla on the way south to Kandy. In the evening, watch the Kandyan cultural dance show, then visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic for the evening ceremony of drums and offerings.
Climb into the hill country past Ramboda Falls, then tour a working tea factory and walk the plantation to see how Ceylon tea goes from leaf to cup. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya — “Little England” — for a walk through its colonial town centre before dinner.
Board the train at Nanu Oya for one of the world’s most scenic railway journeys, winding through tea estates and cloud forest to Ella. Your driver meets you at the station; stop at Ravana Falls, then descend from the hills to the dry-zone plains around Yala for the night.
Set out at dawn on a jeep safari in Yala National Park, when leopards, elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles and a host of birds are at their most active. After the safari, drive west along the coast to Mirissa and spend the afternoon on the beach.
Head out from Mirissa harbour early to look for blue whales and spinner dolphins (November to April). Back on land, visit a turtle hatchery and explore Galle Fort’s ramparts and lighthouse, then continue up the expressway to Colombo for your final night.
After breakfast, transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your onward flight.
